Crowns and Bridges
Crowns
These fit around a weakened tooth which can not be properly repaired with a simple filling. There are many types of crown ranging from the metal coloured to the all porcelain cosmetic crown. When used appropriately crowns are durable and can be highly cosmetic.
Bridges
A bridge is fitted to replace a missing tooth. The 2 main types of bridges are the ‘acid-etch bridge’ and the ‘fixed conventional bridge.’
The ‘acid etch bridge’ is simply glued onto your tooth. The big advantage here is that it usually involves very little, if any, drilling of your tooth. It is reasonably cosmetic and can last for years.
The ‘fixed bridge’ unfortunately involves substantial drilling of your existing tooth. The big advantage here is that it can be highly cosmetic and can last for longer than the ‘acid etch bridge.’
